Why I Love Jazzercise

I have been a card-carrying Jazzerciser since January.  Joining the jazzy club is one of the best decisions I have ever made.  I LOVE JAZZERCISE!

It's not a secret that I have struggled with my weight throughout my life. I have to work diligently to stay in a healthy shape.  I hate dieting  and I like to eat.  So I have to work out.  I used to get on my elliptical machine and run for forty minutes every day.  It worked for a while ( a year or so) but it was just working my leg muscles and it was boring.   There is a Jazzercise center only about two miles from my house, so I joined.

I had no idea that I would love it so much, and that the workout would be so challenging at the same time.  We dance to super fun pop songs, current hits as well as past-era classics, but we also do some super challenging strength training on floor mats or standing with hand weights. Each 50 minute class includes cardio, strength, and stretching exercises. There is an addictive positive energy at Jazzercise.  It's a safe place with no pretension.  I can relax, let loose, and focus on myself for 50 grand minutes.  It's a stress relieving, mood-lifting, booty-tightening good time.

On average, I hit about 4 Jazzercise classes a week. Since joining in mid January I have seen some definite changes in my physical appearance. My arms are smaller and more toned, my waist is a little trimmer, my butt is lifted a little higher, my "girls" are a little perkier,  my legs are a little stronger.

Both of these photos are unedited pictures by Vixen Pin Up Photography.
The above photo was taken last year, before Jazzercise,
the one below was taken this spring after three months of Jazzercise.
No dieting, just good ole fashion exercise.

If you want to get in shape or need a new exercise outlet, or if you just want to have fun and do something nice for yourself; I highly recommend you give Jazzercise a shot.  There are numerous locations out there, chances are there is one close to you.  Click here to find a center near you.

Why I love Pin-Up

If you know me at all, and maybe if you don't know me, you may have noticed my slight obsession with all things vintage, retro and pin-up.

I love the history of the era, especially the 40's.  I love the fashion. I love the hair. Most of all, I love the delicate balance of  sexiness and modesty this kind of style is all about.  When my hair is curled and big, my lips are red, and I am wearing a flared out skirt or dress I feel the most ME and the most alive.

I love that a beautiful Pin-Up girl  has womanly curves, her thighs might even touch, and she is still too hot for words.  I love the confidence she exudes, and her extreme comfort within her skin.  Beauty isn't always a 5'10" 100lb super model, and I love that the Pin Up world gives women an alternative beauty role model.

Last year I received the most amazing Mother's day gift, a photo shoot at Vixen Pin-Up Photography.  Vixen is a team of best friends, Nikki Moreno-Whipple (hair-magician and photographer) and Candy Cunningham (makeup artist extraordinaire).  The ladies transform regular gals into smokin hot pin ups all the time, both outwardly and inwardly.  After my photo shoot the confidence in owning my new found pin up sexiness still lingers on today!

I created my etsy store,  Mavyn Made, to help chase after my love of pin-up.  I love working with fun retro-style fabric and sometimes real bonafied vintage fabric and trimmings.  I enjoy the creative part, but, I really just want to do my little part to spread the joy of pin-up style with others.
